At 6’8 tall and 19 stone (270 lb), Bhors the Barbarian fears little. He has trained and fought all through The Mighty North for most of his life, making a living where he can with his kin and clan, a band of barbarians and druids called by those from the area as “The Bearfolk” for their affinity with bears and their often brutish strength. Most of his childhood was spent with them, learning the ways of the tribe and helping his father, Baor, the cheftain, consolidate power among the other warrior tribes of the north.

But when he reached his mid-twenties, Bhors grew weary of the nomadic life, and struck out on his own after an argument with his father that wounded their relationship. For years he worked as a sword for hire with mercenary bands, where his large size and brutish strength made him a valuable asset and earned him a good bit of gold – he could wring money from debtors without even drawing his sword.

But it was in his travels as a mercenary that Bhors found himself working in the southern lands near Turin, as a bodyguard for a merchant’s caravan, and he learned that his mother, until then unknown to him, had come from this region, a warrior like his father who had dwelled in the lands on the west bank of the Piomba, near the edge of the parched, southwestern desert. She was a cheftain’s daughter from a prominent tribe, now long-destroyed, who had worshipped lions as their spirit totem animal. The merchant who told him this, an elf named Faenar, had traded with them often and knew Bhors was her son the moment he laid eyes upon him.

When pressed, Faenar would not say more, though he told the tale to Bhors with some regret and seemed to hold back information. He did, however, direct Bhors to his mother’s last known location, a place near Oberrain in The Emperor’s Homeland.
